My Story
(AKA: How This All Started)
About four years ago my daughter came home from her summer theater camp in tears.
At the start of the week, she’d landed one of the lead roles — she was ecstatic that she was singing four songs and appearing in seven scenes. But just a few days later, everything changed.“ They cut a bunch of our songs, Mom,” she told me.“ They cut everyone’s scenes down. It’s not even fun anymore.”
That was the moment I realized: she had outgrown theatre "camp.”
So I did what any good mom would do. I Googled “auditions near me.”

That search changed everything.
I signed her up for a community theatre audition — I may have even fudged her age a little — because I knew she was ready. She got the part. That show led to another, and another, until she was acting alongside Broadway stars in front of thousands of people, filming short films, and landing commercials. She now auditions for brands like Disney, Marriott, Puma, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amblin Entertainment, Netflix, Home Depot, Swedish Fish, Nickelodeon, ABC Televison, and more. She has an agent. She has a manager. She’s living her dream. Sounds magical, right? It was. But also?
It was HARD.
I didn’t know how to film a self-tape. I didn’t know what lighting to use or how to write an acting resume. I didn’t know what headshots she needed or how to get them. I didn’t know how to network. Heck, in the beginning I didn't even know what Actors Access WAS! And I certainly didn't know where to find the information I needed to support her.
So I researched. I read books I sat through hours (and HOURS) of classes, pretending they were for her — but really? They were for me. And somewhere along the way, I thought:
Why isn’t anyone helping the moms?
Why isn’t there a one-stop-shop for overwhelmed but determined parents who are trying to help their talented kids succeed in the entertainment industry?
